Friends In Strange Places

A Parable On Why You Should Get Off Your Phone

A few months ago, I was in my second hometown of Nevada City, CA. I have lived there part time, off and on, for the last decade. This gold rush town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, is like a time capsule. All the signs are hand painted, no retail chains are allowed, no neon, and if something burns down, they rebuild it to look like it would have in the 1800s. It is the opposite of social media.

Nevada City, CA

I was at my friend’s shop, Kitkitdizzi, when I plopped down on the couch to wait for her to finish working. Next to me was a woman, waiting for her friend to finish shopping. I immediately reached for my phone to pass the time. Then I thought about Dayo and noticed that she was not on her phone but sitting quitely. Instead of getting on my phone we ended up talking. Turns out she works for Revyrie, a tech studio who not only builds apps and platforms, but their founder had a similar idea years before and even bult and early prototype. We had met like minds.

Revyrie CEO Dan Faiman, Dayo Acting CTO

Welcome Revyrie. They have put a team of 9 people behind Dayo and their Founder and CEO Dan Faiman is even serving as our CTO for the next phase. We have started a three month sprint to MVP+.

You may see updates to the app from time to time. Some of the screens and logic will be changing. You are part of our BETA testers and you can call or email me anytime to tell me what you like or don’t like, which you have already been doing. Of course there will also be regular updates to the marketplace.

We are cooking up great things here. Now more than ever we need a reprive from social media. Don’t worry Dayo has your back. Stay tuned!
